The first thing I noticed when I arrived at Los Coyotes Country Club was the light. The late afternoon sun was spilling across the lakeside ceremony site, palm trees aligned against a perfectly clear Buena Park sky, and I immediately understood why so many Orange County and Southern California couples choose this venue. Minsu and Kathlyn’s wedding was everything a Los Coyotes celebration should be — warm, joyful, and effortlessly beautiful from start to finish.
I photographed this wedding at Los Coyotes Country Club alongside my friend Makito Umekita, and from the moment we started scouting locations on the property, I knew it was going to be the perfect wedding day.
The venue is nestled in North Orange County and surrounded by rolling greens, tall palms, and a quiet residential area that feels tucked away from the city. It’s an ideal spot for couples who want a classic country club setting without feeling overly formal or hard to access.
One thing to note is that because Los Coyotes is a private country club, you may see members playing golf throughout the day. It wasn’t a major interruption, but it’s helpful to keep in mind when planning timelines and portraits.

We shot in May, and the weather was perfect. Sunny, warm but not hot, with that soft late-afternoon light that makes everything look good. The ceremony was lakeside with palm trees in the background, and the reception moved into the Grand Ballroom as the sun went down.

By car (most common):
Los Coyotes Country Club is easily accessible via the 5 Freeway. Take the Valley View Street exit and head north. The venue is just a few minutes from the freeway with clear signage once you arrive.
From Orange County / Irvine area:
Guests coming from South OC can take the 5 North or 405 North → 5 North, depending on traffic. Travel time is typically 35–50 minutes, though I recommend padding extra time during late afternoon hours.
From Los Angeles:
If you’re coming from LA, take the 5 South toward Orange County. Buena Park sits right on the LA–OC border, making this venue a convenient middle ground for guests traveling from both directions.
Los Coyotes Country Club Address: 8888 Los Coyotes Dr, Buena Park, CA 90621

This is the stuff you won’t find on the venue website.
Best time for portraits: Late afternoon, ideally 1-2 hours before sunset. The light hits the lakeside and terrace beautifully during golden hour, and the white stucco walls of the building make for a clean, bright backdrop.

First look location: We did the first look on the right side of the building (if you’re facing the venue from the parking lot), near the arched doorways. The architecture gives you that Mediterranean feel with soft, directional light. Then for couple portraits, don’t skip the fountain. The entrance fountain is perfect for quick portraits or romantic wide shots.
For larger bridal party photos, we moved to the back of the building where there’s a set of two-way steps. The white exterior paired with the palm trees creates a clean, classic backdrop that feels very Southern California without trying too hard. You can get there easily from the main areas by walking around the building or moving through the indoor spaces, and the change in backdrop from the front of the venue adds natural variety to the gallery.
Reception lighting: If your reception is in the Grand Ballroom, talk to your photographer about flash or video light. The ambient light is workable but not ideal for dance floor shots.

What really stands out about Los Coyotes is how polished the venue feels without ever being stiff. There’s a natural ease to the layout that allows guests to move comfortably from the ceremony into cocktail hour, while couples can step away for portraits without feeling pulled away from their celebration.
The grounds are open but intentional. Everything feels connected, which sounds simple but makes a huge difference when you’re trying to maximize time on a wedding day. From a photography standpoint, I loved that we had a variety of places to shoot: lakeside, terrace, ballroom, greenery – without needing to drive anywhere or rush between locations.
It works just as well for larger celebrations (they can fit 300+) as it does for more intimate guest counts. But what really sets the day apart is which spaces you choose and how you use them, so let’s break down the ceremony and reception options.

Los Coyotes isn’t for everyone, and that’s not a bad thing. It’s a classic country club venue with a traditional feel, so if you’re looking for something moody, industrial, or ultra-modern, this probably isn’t the right fit.
That said, it’s a great choice for:
Couples who want ceremony and reception in one location, no shuttles, no travel time between venues, everything flows naturally on the same property.
Larger guest lists. With capacity for up to 350 guests, Los Coyotes handles big weddings without feeling cramped. There’s room to breathe.
Southern California couples who want greenery and open space without coastal venue pricing. It’s one of my favorite SoCal wedding venues to photograph. You get the golf course views, the palm trees, and the lake without paying Laguna Beach rates.
Traditional or classic wedding styles. The Mediterranean architecture, manicured grounds, and ballroom setting lean timeless rather than trendy.
If that sounds like what you’re going for, Los Coyotes is worth a tour and if you need a photographer who knows the venue, let’s chat.

Lakeside Ceremony Site
This is where most couples say their vows, and honestly, it’s easy to see why. The ceremony site sits between a lake and a large putting green, with palm trees framing the backdrop. Capacity is up to 350 guests, so it handles larger weddings without feeling cramped. The natural light here is gorgeous in the late afternoon so if you’re planning a Los Coyotes Country Club wedding ceremony and reception on the same property, this is the spot to start.

Grand Ballroom Terrace
The terrace is elevated, which gives you panoramic views of the golf course and surrounding greenery. It’s a great option for cocktail hour or even an outdoor reception if you want that open-air California feel. Capacity is around 300 for a seated event. I’d recommend this space for golden hour portraits too because the light spills across the terrace beautifully.

Grand Ballroom
For the reception, most couples end up in the Grand Ballroom. It’s a large indoor space with high ceilings, recessed lighting, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the course. Capacity is 350 with a dance floor. The windows help, and it doesn’t feel like a dark banquet hall.
Note: the indoor lighting is decent but mixed. So if you’re hiring a photographer, make sure they’re comfortable with reception lighting.

Cypress Palm Room
If you’re planning something more intimate, the Cypress Palm Room fits up to 120 guests. It has French doors that open to a private veranda with lake views. The Mediterranean-style decor gives it a warmer, cozier feel than the Grand Ballroom. This is a good option for smaller guest counts or couples who want a more relaxed vibe.
Between the four main spaces, Los Coyotes gives couples a lot of flexibility for how they want their day to flow. Most weddings I’ve seen here use the Lakeside site for the ceremony, the Terrace for cocktail hour, and the Grand Ballroom for the reception – but the layout works for other combinations too.

I always find it helpful when photographers share what actually worked and what to plan around. Here’s my honest take after shooting here:
Versatile spaces. You have outdoor and indoor options for ceremony, reception and portraits, which gives you flexibility depending on guest count and weather.
Easy guest flow. Everything is close together, so guests aren’t wandering around confused between the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception.
Reliable coordination. There was someone at the entrance directing parking when we arrived, and the venue staff knew what they were doing. That kind of thing makes a difference on a wedding day.
Plenty of parking. Sounds small, but it matters when you have 200+ guests showing up at the same time.
Year-round availability. Los Coyotes can accommodate weddings in any season, and their indoor spaces mean you’re covered if the weather doesn’t cooperate. Pricing also tends to stay fairly consistent throughout the year, which isn’t always the case with Orange County venues.
Indoor lighting can be tricky. The Grand Ballroom has windows, which helps, but if you’re hiring a photographer or videographer, make sure they’re comfortable with reception lighting or bringing additional gear.
Less privacy during peak hours. The venue is part of a working golf course, so depending on timing, you might have golfers nearby during your ceremony or portraits. Not a dealbreaker, just something to be aware of.

If you have guests flying in for your wedding, Buena Park is well-positioned for accommodations. It’s about 15-20 minutes from Anaheim and all the Disneyland-area hotels, so out-of-town guests can easily make a trip out of it.
Closest airports: John Wayne Airport (SNA) is about 25 minutes away. LAX is an option too, roughly 45 minutes to an hour and a half, depending on traffic.
For guests flying into either airport, booking a rental car through a comparison service like DiscoverCars makes it easy to compare prices from major providers and find the most competitive rates for their travel dates.
For guests who want the full SoCal experience, Disneyland is about 10-15 minutes from Los Coyotes. Just something to mention on your wedding website if you have family traveling from out of state.

How many guests can Los Coyotes Country Club accommodate? The Lakeside Ceremony Site fits up to 350 guests. The Grand Ballroom also holds 350 seated with a dance floor. For more intimate weddings, the Cypress Palm Room accommodates up to 120.
Is Los Coyotes Country Club good for outdoor ceremonies? Yes. The Lakeside site is one of the most popular ceremony locations in Orange County, with a lake and putting green as your backdrop. The Grand Ballroom Terrace is another outdoor option with golf course views.
Can you host both ceremony and reception at Los Coyotes? Absolutely. Most couples do the ceremony at the Lakeside site or Terrace, cocktail hour on the Terrace, and reception in the Grand Ballroom. Everything is on the same property, so there’s no need for guests to travel between locations.
How far is Los Coyotes from Anaheim and Disneyland? About 10-15 minutes. It’s right off the 5 and 91 freeways, making it easy to access from anywhere in Orange County or LA. Guests staying near Disneyland will have a short drive.
What’s the best time of year to get married at Los Coyotes? I’d recommend spring (April through May) or fall (September through November). You’ll get temperate weather, warm temperatures, and clear skies without the intense summer heat. April is particularly nice if you want comfortable outdoor ceremony conditions. Regardless of the season, I photograph weddings year-round across Orange County — see more of my work here.
One thing to note: September and October are the most popular months here, so if you’re set on a fall wedding, book early. Those weekends fill up fast.
The nice thing about Los Coyotes is the pricing stays fairly consistent year-round, and the indoor spaces give you flexibility if you’re working around weather concerns.
Do you need to be a member to book a wedding at Los Coyotes Country Club? No. The venue is open to the public for weddings and events. You don’t need a country club membership.
How much does a wedding at Los Coyotes Country Club cost? Wedding packages at Los Coyotes Country Club generally start around $7,500 for off-peak dates and $10,000 for peak dates (typically April through December), with packages based on 100 guests and additional guests at approximately $130 per person. Pricing may vary depending on season, guest count, and customization, so I’d recommend reaching out directly to the venue for an updated quote.
